Dust yourself off and try again!

Hey guys, it's Cassan! So here's the thing, this post was supposed to go up since Friday, but it seems EVERYTHING got in the way of that. As always, when things don't go as planned, you have to "pick yourself back up, and do it again", right?(I miss Aaliyah btw) I'm really glad I get to share this post with you despite the struggle. As you'll see, I'm wearing this amazing scuba skirt that seems to be the "It" skirt of the season. There's a grey and pink version, but of course I went with the black (my uniform color of choice, lol). The knee high boots I'm wearing, took a while to find. Truth be told, I am EXTREMELY picky when it comes to boots, the slightest detail could throw me off, but these Aldo boots are a perfect match for someone like me; sleek, edgy, and comfy all in one. Thanks for stopping by! :-)

HAUTIE of the month: uplifting women

Name: Latasha Riddick

Occupation: Social Work
  • Currently in graduate program at University of Pittsburgh located in Pittsburgh, Pa
  • Masters of Social Work, Concentration on Direct Practice
Where You’re From: Ahoskie, North Carolina

Description of Style: My style shows who I am, and where I have come from! In what better way are we allowed to express our identity and deepest experiences, without saying a word?  Style to me is a road that leads to an opportunity for the world to see who God has created me to be.
My style shows confidence, while providing the chance to lift up others. This confidence that I speak of was not easy to find.  I journeyed through a dark road full of images of what society told me I should look like.  But one day I finally saw myself the way God saw me, and that dark road began to lighten.
I can’t help but to reference to Yves Saint Laurent’s quote that states, “Fashions fade, style is eternal.” Style is unique, and cannot be duplicated.  Sometimes I like to wear jeans, a comfy tee-shirt and a baseball cap, other occasions I slip on a nice conservative skirt/slacks, collared blouse, while not forgetting the perfect pump of course! The interesting thing is, through creativity style is never lost.

My style is not what I wear, or even how well I wear it, but it’s the God given confidence on the inside.  As a woman who has had many challenges with self-image, I have learned that I have the power to choose how people see me.  The way I’m seen by others, often stems from the root of how I see myself.  So I encourage every woman that may be experiencing difficult with appearance, to find your Confidence that will lead to your own personal STYLE!!

Printed stripes!

Hey guys the weather is finally warming up in Boston! I am especially happy for my sister because she is advancing in the fashion industry. She is a great example of how persistence pays off and going for your dreams and what you LOVE is what will make you happy. Through God everything is possible! Ive been praying for some warm weather so the first chance I got to let my legs breathe I didn't hesitant to wear one of my favorite printed skirts! ENJOY!

Winter gem!

Hey guys!! First off, thank you for all those who voted for me to become J. Bolin's assistant stylist! I have been extremely busy, but please know that I appreciate you! Last week I had the amazing opportunity to style JJ Hairston for his appearance on Good Morning America; it was an absolute dream come true! See what you may not know is that I always dreamed of styling someone for GMA, so it was truly special for me. Anyhow, winter has ben pretty darn brutal and I am ready for some warmer temps to swing up north. Honestly, I get upset at the weather and just want to walk out like a bum sometimes (but the fashionista in me won't let me)! With temps this low you start to wonder how one could maintain; however, chunky knit sweaters have been my saving grace. Here's how I wore one last week…
